Research Computing @ the Library

About the Service

UVA's Research Computing staff are knowledgeable in bioinformatics, machine learning, and visualization and provide general assistance to researchers who need help conceptualizing and executing their computation-intensive projects.

Research Computing @ the Library is a free service for all researchers in the Health System, including research staff, clinical staff (residents, nurses, clinicians), and students (medical, nursing, BIMS).

Researching Computer staff will be at the Research Support desk on the lower level of the Health Sciences Library from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm each Wednesday to answer questions about:

  • Ivy, UVA’s HIPAA-compliant HPC environment
  • Rivanna, a high-performance computing system for non-sensitive data which features NVIDIA graphics processors
  • UVA’s Viz Lab, a VR/GPU facility designed to help UVA faculty, staff, and students develop visualizations for research and education. 


Consultations are on a drop-in basis

Hours: Wednesdays 12:00pm - 2:00 pm​
Location: outside Room 1212 on the lower level of the Health Sciences Library

Closed during UVA Academic Division holidays.
