Bart Ragon, Ed.D, MLIS, Appointed Director of Claude Moore Health Sciences Library

Bart Ragon, Ed.D, MLIS, Director


On Thursday, April 14, 2022, Dr. K. Craig Kent, MD, Chief Executive Officer, UVA Health and Executive Vice President for Health Affairs, University of Virginia, announced that Bart Ragon, Interim Director, had been appointed as the Health Sciences Library's new Director. In an email to employees of UVA Health, Dr. Kent wrote:
 

"Dear Colleagues, I am excited to announce the appointment of Bart Ragon, Ed.D, MLIS, as Director of the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library following our national search.  Bart has served as interim Director since October 2020. He has dedicated 22 years of his career to UVA Health and advancing innovation in library science and service to the health system community at large. Among his many accomplishments, he has developed and implemented a strategic vision that places the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library as a national leader among peer biomedical libraries and has established the library as an innovative partner that empowers patrons to access and use knowledge through user-centered experiences and cutting-edge information discovery systems. Additionally, as a national leader in the field of library and information science, Bart currently services as Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries and a member of the Journal of the American Medical Association’s (JAMA) Library Advisory Board. Please join me in congratulating Bart on this appointment effective immediately. I look forward to working with him to support the mission of UVA Health and to continue to evolve as a premier academic health sciences library."
