On January 6th, 2020, the Department of Historical Collections at the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library will alter its schedule. The change reflects Historical Collections’ commitment to its mission, says Dan Cavanaugh, Alvin V. and Nancy Baird Curator of Historical Collections:

“Making the collection accessible to members of the Health System and to the wider community will remain a priority; however, as we’ve redirected our collection focus from general health sciences history to the more specific history of the UVA Health System, we’ve realized that the work necessary for building and maintaining this collection requires an increase in the time dedicated to it.” 
Noting that requests for class visits have increased over the past several years, Cavanaugh also said that the schedule change will allow for strengthening Historical Collections’ instructional offerings.  
Changing the opening time from 8:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. will meet staff needs, while also continuing to provide in-person access to the community.
