Kimberley Barker

Information

I received my faculty appointment to the Health Sciences Library in 2010, and have held many different positions of responsibility here, including emerging technology, Head of the now-defunct TEC Team, marketing, and teaching. Currently, my role includes marketing, teaching, and acting as the Library's diversity lead.

I believe that technology empowers people, allowing them to make better decisions and enrich their personal and professional lives. I believe that anyone can learn anything, and that everybody deserves the chance to do so. If you think I can help you, please fill out the Ask Us form and mention my name in the text box.

My areas of expertise include:
  • reputation management
  • online identity
  • personal branding
  • the intersections of contemporary issues and healthcare, including:
    • climate change
    • artificial intelligence
    • net neutrality
    • bias
In addition to offering support and instruction for the above topics, I also serve as HSL's Chair of the IDEA (Inclusion Diversity Equity Accessibility) Working Group. If you have suggestions about how the Library can improve its advocacy for any group of people, I would appreciate the opportunity to listen to you; please email me: Kimberley@virginia.edu
