Here are the many ways that we can serve you while the Library is operating on a reduced schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic:
Get Help / Ask a Question
Fill out an Ask Us request and we'll get back to you soon.
Librarians and subject specialists are available for remote consultations via phone, email, or online (e.g. Zoom). Please fill out an Ask Us form.
Online Materials and Tools
The University of Virginia licenses thousands of online materials. Discovery of those materials are through online databases, Virgo, or our E-Journals or E-Books lists. If you are unable to access an item, please use the Ask Us form.
Contact-less checkout is now available for books in the Health Sciences general collection. To initiate a transaction, locate the book in Virgo and then email the citation to firstname.lastname@example.org. A member of our Service Desk team will pull the book, check it out to you, and then make it available on the shelf across from the Service Desk.
We can deliver journal articles not located at UVA from other libraries directly to you at no charge. This service (ILLiad) is available for current UVA students, faculty and staff only. For assistance, please use the Ask Us form.
Please use our Purchase Request form.
If you have a library book and you are not leaving the area, please keep it until the Library is back in operation. The due dates of all materials have been extended until the end of June. If you are leaving the area, please place your books in the book drop located in the Link outside of the Library (across from the bathrooms).
Reduced seating is available in the 24-hour space. Two single-use study rooms are available on a first come first serve basis. Six HIT computers are also available.
As a reminder: a Health System ID is required to access the 24-hour space, which will serve as the only entry point to the Library (patrons can exit via the Library's main entrance). The entrance to the 24-hours area is down the hall from the Library's main entrance, on the side closest to the West Complex.
Group Study Rooms
The 1st floor group study rooms are available when the library is open with reduced seating.
