Hours

Library Access: UVA Health badge holders enjoy 24/7 access to the library. Patrons without a UVA Health badge may use the library from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, which is when the Service Desk is staffed. On designated holidays (New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day), access is restricted to UVA Health badge holders.

Walk-in Reference Service: Our professionals do not provide walk-in reference services. To schedule professional assistance, either onsite or virtually, please submit an Ask Us form.

On-demand Statistics Service: The Public Health Sciences department offers free on-demand support during the following times. Appointments are also available outside these hours by contacting Mark Smolkin.

Historical Collections: Access to Historical Collections is by appointment only. Please contact hsl-historical@virginia.edu.

Lactation Room: The lactation room is available between 8am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Library Services FAQ

Do I need to reserve a study room in the second floor after hours space?

No. All study rooms in the 24 hours space are available without reservations.

Can I reserve a 1st floor group study room?

Yes. Please see our room reservation page.

Are the Presentation Studio and audio booth available?

The Presentation Studio and the audio booth are available 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. These spaces can be reserved using the room reservation form.

Are public printers available?

Printers, both color and black & white, are available in the lobby. You can pay by Credit Card or if you are UVA affiliated and have an ID badge with funds available.

Can I check out a book?

Yes. Our stacks are open to patrons, 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
