Beginning on Friday, January 21, 2021, certain sections of the Library’s physical space will be
dedicated to administering saliva tests for the presence of COVID-19. These sections include the HIT workstations area next to the 24-Hour entrance, the adjacent quiet study areas, and the Cabell room (please see diagram). The HIT workstations will be relocated to the Library’s main lobby near the front entrance.
The Library will continue to welcome patrons who wish to visit (while enforcing capacity limits), and many new sections of the Library have been temporarily designated as 24-hour spaces, including:
- the main lobby (ID badge access has been enabled on the doors of the Library’s main entrance)
- the 13 study rooms located in the MILL; now available and reservable 24 hours/day (when not otherwise used by the School of Medicine for FCM or other activities)
- the large quiet study area located over JPA and the six small study rooms within that space
In order to accommodate the needs of the General Medical Education program, the MILL, Carter classroom, Tolleson classroom, and room 1212 have been assigned to it until vaccinations are distributed at a capacity that allows for safer gathering in clinical areas.
For the past 10 months, UVA Health has moved at the speed of need, and these most recent changes in the Library are no exception. We apologize for any convenience that this may cause but know that our patrons understand the importance of making testing easily available. UVA Health is united in our pride in our work and in each other, and the Library is happy to continue to do its part.
