Announcement: Due to a change in the purchasing model for Springer Nature journals, beginning in January 2023, titles will be purchased individually rather than through a multi-title package. Usage data guided which journals are continued and which will be cancelled. Below is the complete list of Springer Nature health sciences journals ranked by usage over the past 12 months. Highlighted in yellow are the proposed 79 titles for retention, as their combined cost fits within our budget. If you find that we are not continuing to subscribe to a title that is important to you, please let us know by using our Ask Us form. Articles in journals not retained will be delivered electronically through our free and fast interlibrary loan service, and back issues (pre-2023) of all canceled titles will remain available.
Effective January 2023, users in the health system who access library resources through the secure clinical network or HS-VPM, must login through NetBadge. This change will not impact users who access library resources through an on-Grounds network such as eduroam or while off-Grounds. If you try to access a link that once worked but now doesn't, please go to the Health Sciences Library’s website, locate the resource, and click on it. If it still doesn’t work, please let us know by using our Ask Us form.
We are making a few user-friendly changes to our website. Your Top Resources have been moved to the top right of the page to improve access. Our banner ads are now in the center of the page so we can better promote our resources and services. A box called Quick Links includes frequently clicked pages and services. Finally, a new box has been added that includes links to our liaisons and specialists. If you have any questions about our new site, please contact us by using our Ask Us form.
Beginning in January 2023, all NIH grant applications must include a narrative section (maximum two pages) describing the applicant’s plan to manage and share data related to the funded research. Our Research & Data Services team is well-versed in data management and sharing practices, and are here to help before and after the policy goes into effect in 2023. We’ll continue to educate ourselves and our grant-seekers on approaches and resources to efficiently create impactful data management and sharing plans, and provide expert guidance when needed.
For additional information, please contact Andrea H. Denton, Research & Data Services Manager at ash6b@virginia.edu.
Beginning January 2, 2023, HSL librarians will no longer produce publication lists for individuals, departments, or schools. We will, however, continue to support SOM and SON Promotion and Tenure by providing required metrics based on the candidate’s CV. We will be providing guidance and training sessions on how you can use the Symplectic Elements system to generate publication lists. If you have questions or if you'd like to schedule a training session, please reach out via our Ask Us form.
