The HSL relies on electronic course reserves, which provide students with 24/7 access from any location.
To place books on course reserve:
Search the catalog: Search Virgo for the item you wish to use. If it’s available in eBook form, you can place the Virgo link directly in your learning management system (Canvas, Collab, etc.).
Make a request: If UVA Libraries do not yet own an eBook of a resource, submit your request through the Purchase Recommendation Form and the Electronic Resources Librarian will evaluate options for purchasing or licensing the item.
Due to budget limitations and what publishers make available to libraries, please consider the following stipulations:
the HSL cannot purchase nor subscribe to every course reserve request.
While we strive to purchase unlimited simultaneous access to an eBook, licenses or cost often limit access to one simultaneous user.
We will attempt to obtain a print copy and hold it in our reserves section as a non-circulating resource if an eBook is unavailable.
