David Martin, PhD, a Clinical Data Research Specialist at the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library, recently graduated from the first-ever cohort of the UVA Health Leadership Institute (HLI).

Launched in July 2023, the HLI aims to nurture leadership skills across all health system entities, regardless of career stage. Out of 250 applicants, David was one of just 33 selected for this transformative experience.

David’s group capstone project involved interviewing both internal and external stakeholders to explore opportunities and obstacles related to UVA Health’s pursuit of innovation leadership.  Based on these interviews, they identified a need to propose the establishment a Center for Innovation within UVA Health, which would serve as a hub for developing strategies and fostering partnerships.  His team presented their capstone project during a celebratory reception held in the Dome Room of the Rotunda on June 12^th.
