What originally drew you to your field?
I was originally drawn to the field of data science/statistics because it allows you to work on a variety of projects with a variety of people. This also helps to make sure that I’m always learning something new.
How does your work relate to the Library’s mission/guiding principles?
Part of the Library’s mission is to support education and research. I will be contributing to those goals by leading workshops on R and Python to help expand the skillset of students, researchers, and clinicians. I will also be supporting research by providing statistical consults.
What most excites you about your work here?
I am most excited about helping people gain confidence in their data analysis skills.
What classes/workshops will you lead in the coming year?
I will be leading our four course workshop on R this September. Starting in October, I will also be leading Introduction to Python and Data Analysis in Python workshops.
What is something you have on your "bucket list"
I would like to see the northern lights in Iceland.
What is the best thing you've read/watched/listened to recently?
The best thing I’ve read recently would be a tie between Shark Heart by Emily Habeck (if you like non-traditional romances) and Pachinko by Min Jin Lee (if you like generational dramas).
