We’re thrilled to introduce our new School of Medicine Librarian, Allison Cruise. Allison has a Master of Library & Information Studies from UNC Greensboro and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from UNC Chapel Hill. She started her library career at the nonprofit NCBiotech before being selected for the National Library of Medicine Associate Fellowship Program. In the second year of the NLM fellowship, she lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico and worked at the University of New Mexico’s Health Sciences Library & Informatics Center. While there, she collaborated with her preceptor Melissa Rethlefsen to complete a published scoping review entitled Academic Health Science Libraries’ Outreach and Engagement with North American Indigenous Communities. In her spare time, Allison enjoys reading fantasy novels, playing video games, thrifting, and sewing.
We’re delighted to have Allison on board as she prepares for the new class of medical students. Her dedication to student success and community engagement will undoubtedly enrich our library and the School of Medicine.

The Claude Moore Health Sciences Library, in partnership with UVA's Department of Neurosurgery, is offering a 30-day trial of The Neurosurgical Atlas electronic database starting August 1, 2024.
The Neurosurgical Atlas is a comprehensive interactive tool featuring neurosurgical images, videos, models and lectures. The tool allows neurosurgeons, neuroscience researchers, radiologists, residents, medical students, nurses and other health professionals to learn and practice routine and complex brain operations.
