Patient Education Repository - a clearinghouse for UVA-developed instructions and handouts, staff favorites for online videos and other material from non-UVA developers. You can also access this resource from Epic > Resources tab.

Patient Education Library - trusted, easy to understand videos for patients on a full range of topics for adults and children.

  • English and Spanish resources available.

External, Government and 3rd Party Resources

Clinical Key - patient education material for diagnosed conditions, procedures, blood tests, etc. All offerings available in at least English and Spanish.

  • Many resources are available in over 19 languages including Arabic, Chinese (simplified and traditional), French, Ukrainian, and Somali.

Lexidrug - drug handouts for adults and children, in over 19 languages.

  • You can also access this resource from Epic > Resources tab, or from the intranet Clinician Portal > Lab & Pharmacy section > RX Reference link.
  • Note: the medication handouts in Up-To-Date(r) come from Lexi-Comp.

MedlinePlus.gov - Maintained by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (part of the National Institutes of Health), this online health resource covers health topics, genetics, medical tests, drugs and supplements.  

  • Information available in English and Spanish, plus additional resources in 50+ languages, including Pashto, Punjabi, Farsi, and Dari.

DeafDOC - Free and reliable health information for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) community.

  • Includes videos, trainings and community activities for the D/HH community.

Global Health Media - Short, clear videos on health-related topics for a wide range of health literacy levels. 

  • Tailored nutrition content that includes common and familiar foods found in particular cultures and communities.
