iThenticate at UVA

For Authors: Detection of Potential Plagiarism

UVA's Office of the Vice President for Research has provided access for faculty and graduate students to iThenticate. iThenticate is a platform designed to detect potential plagiarism and can help authors detect un-cited or improperly cited material in manuscripts, grant proposals, and other written documents so that you can correct the text before being submitted. It can also assist graduate students from inadvertently including previously published work in their theses or dissertations without proper citation, paraphrasing, or quoting.

To request an account:

  • Faculty: visit the OVPR iThenticate guide here to request an account
  • Graduate students and non-faculty researchers: each UVA department should have a primary point of contact who can run an article through iThenticate. If you do not know your department iThenticate contact, please email the Director of Research Integrity and Ethics with your name, school, and department for assistance.
