Off-Grounds Access
Option 1: UVA Proxy Server
The proxy server allows you to access library resources from off-Grounds by logging in via NetBadge (your UVa computing ID and your Netbadge password).
To use the proxy to connect from off-Grounds:
- You must access the licensed resource from a library page. Start at either HSL or any UVA Library homepage, then find the book or article you need via one of our tools (e.g. PubMed, E-Journals, E-books).
- When prompted for Netbadge, log in with your UVA computing ID and your Netbadge password.
Option 2: Browser Bookmarklet
Install the Moore Access browser button. This will allow you to authenticate (e.g. log in) to UVA-licensed resources in Google or any non-UVA site.

Option 3: UVA Anywhere
UVA Anywhere provides an off-Grounds connection to resources that normally require you to be on Grounds to use. It involves installing software on your computer and running UVA Anywhere before you attempt to access a resource. See installation and use instructions here: Virtual Private Network (VPN).

- Note to Health System VPN users: Many journals and databases cannot be accessed through the Health System VPN connection. Use the methods described above for full access to UVa Library resources from outside the University.
