Equipment Policies

Policy

Equipment Circulation Policy

  • Borrowers must present a valid UVA Health System ID to be able to check out equipment.
  • Borrowers who have unpaid library bills will not be allowed to reserve or check out equipment until the bill is resolved.

Loans

  • The individual making the reservation must be the one to pick up the equipment. Patrons may check out equipment for up to five days.
  • Reservations must be picked up on the first day of the reservation or it will be subject to cancelation.
  • Reservations must be returned on their due date by library closing time. 
  • Equipment renewal will be considered based on availability at that time.
  • All equipment must be returned to a staff member at the Service Desk (not left on the counter).

Loss and Damage

  • The individual who checks out the equipment is responsible for it until it has been returned.
  • Borrowers are responsible for the full replacement cost of all equipment and/or any peripherals if they are lost or stolen while on loan. 

Audience Response System

The Health Sciences Library, in collaboration with Medical Education's Educational Technology Group, offers TurningPoint brand audience response systems for checkout by Health System faculty and staff.

  • These are the same devices installed in the School of Medicine lecture halls and issued to medical students.
  • Sets are circulated with a receiver and either 30 or 75 individual student clickers.
