In celebration of Arab American Heritage Month in April, we take the opportunity to honor the rich history and culture of Arab Americans in the United States and abroad. In healthcare and medicine, Arab American clinicians and healthcare workers have played a pivotal role in advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care. Their dedication, expertise, and compassion have been instrumental in addressing the health needs of communities across the country. Arab American physicians, nurses, researchers, and public health professionals have been at the forefront of medical innovation, contributing to groundbreaking research and providing high-quality care to patients. A notable example is Dr. Michael DeBakey, a pioneering cardiovascular surgeon of Lebanese descent, whose innovations in heart surgery have saved countless lives. His legacy continues to inspire new generations of medical professionals. Dr. Huda Zoghbi, a neurologist and geneticist of Lebanese origin, has made significant contributions to our understanding of neurological disorders, including Rett syndrome.
