Empowering Non-Profits with AI Hackathon

Date: 2/1/2024 (planning) and 2/5/24 (build)

Location: Charles L. Brown Science & Engineering Library, McCormick Road, Charlottesville, VA, USA

The UVA Health Sciences Library, Center for Civic Innovation, and Girls on the Run would like to invite you to a unique hackathon with a precise goal:

Objectives:

  • Learn more about Girls on the Run and the capacity issues that face small non-profits seeking to raise money.
  • Brainstorm and develop AI-powered solutions to facilitate grant discovery and writing.

    Who is this for:
  • Anyone interested in small non-profits, grantwriting, and emerging technologies.
  • The second event on 2/5 will be a technical "hackathon" where we build out solutions discussed during the first event.

Agenda:

  • Context of the problem and organization
  • Opportunity for a human-centered technology solution
  • Develop wireframes to support build day on 2/5.

This registration is for our 2/1 event where we'll lay out the problem and work toward a wireframe. No specific technical expertise is required. The 2/5 event will be held downtown and will be strictly for building out the solutions. You do not need to attend both sessions, the second session will be more technical.

Parking:
Central Grounds Parking Garage.
Take the Central Grounds Parking Garage elevator to the 4th floor.Turn right and walk toward Newcomb Hall.At the brick courtyard, turn right again and proceed up Newcomb Rd. (small road behind dorms, parallel to Emmet).Turn left at McCormick Rd. and continue up until you see Clark Hall on the right.

Organized by:

Kimberley Barker, UVA Health Sciences Library
