Data @ HSL

Data @ HSL helps guide researchers, students, and medical professionals in finding biomedical data, cleaning and wrangling the data, analyzing the data, and creating publication-ready visualizations. Our services include individual consultations to allow you to get focused assistance on specific data questions, and workshops to help you learn novel data analysis techniques and software.

PHS @ The Library

Public Health Sciences at the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library is a free consultation service to address introductory questions about research methods and basic statistics. This service is available to students (medical, nursing, BIMS), clinical staff (residents, nurses, clinicians), and research staff in the Health System.

PHS @ The Library drop-in consultation service:

Hours: Monday through Friday 12:00 – 4:00pm​ (Closed on Academic Holidays)
Location outside Room 1212 on the lower level of the Health Sciences Library

Research Concierge @ The Library

The Translational Health Research Institute of Virginia (THRIV) serves as the “front door” for researchers and study teams at the University of Virginia to provide education and services to facilitate clinical and translational research, including data modeling, basic science, animal, clinical, and outcomes research. The SOM Clinical Trials Office (CTO) provides support services for the planning, implementation and management of clinical research studies.

Data Services - Health System

Health System Analytics & Reporting

A full range of tools and services to meet your clinical data needs, including Clinical Data Repository (CDR) support, dashboard development, integration of project data and data from existing systems (e.g. Epic), data modeling, patient registries, business intelligence.

School of Medicine Research Computing

SOMRC supports computational biomedical research by providing advanced cyber-infrastructure and expertise in data analysis at scale for School of Medicine faculty, staff and students. They offer services and free workshops related to high performance computing, cloud architecture, scientific programming and big data solutions.

PHS Consulting and Collaboration Support

Need more research assistance? The UVA PHS provides fee-based Consulting & Collaboration Support to assist researchers with study design, data analysis, statistical graphics, outcomes and comparative effectiveness research, data base development and management and other multidisciplinary analytical services, such as evaluation methods, surveys and community engagement strategies. Charges are on an hourly rate basis. 

UVA Bioinformatics Core

The Bioinformatics Core in the School of Medicine provides expert and timely bioinformatics consulting and data analysis solutions to UVa and non-UVa investigators on both grant-funded and chargeback based projects for management and analysis of large-scale biological datasets produced by high-throughput genomics experiments.

Data Services Across Grounds

CADRE

Computation And Data Resource Exchange (CADRE) is a UVa-wide exchange designed to simplify the process of finding local research technology solutions. The CADRE website provides a comprehensive list of the software, services, training opportunities, storage solutions, and computational hardware available to UVa scholars. CADRE is multi-disciplinary and supports all eleven schools of the University. School of Medicine Research Computing and the UVa Advanced Research Computing Services can be found here.

Research Data Services + Sciences

UVA Library's consultation services at the Brown Science and Engineering Library, including the StatLab (data analysis and statistics), research software, data management, and data discovery. Office hours each semester, or by appointment.
