The Library is happy to share that we have expanded our room reservation service to include the group study rooms on the First (lower) floor.
Requests may be submitted by any UVA Health affiliates (if you have a valid UVA Health ID badge, then you're an affiliate!) via the online form at any time, but reservations will only be completed during staffed Service Desk hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please note that the School of Medicine has a standing reservation for all group study rooms rooms from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and that the study rooms on the Second (upper) floor are not reservable.
During the work week, our Information Technology team conducts daily checks of equipment in the group study rooms, and Service Desk team members are available for minimal support (not including troubleshooting), Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Support is unavailable outside of Service Desk hours, so please plan accordingly. If you need assistance with the equipment in those rooms, please submit a consultation request.
Access is available via a card swipe at the Library’s main entrance. To help provide for a safe and secure environment for everyone, UVA Health ID badges must be displayed, masks must be worn, and occupancy limits must be observed. We also ask that the privacy blinds on study room doors door be open during the hours that the Library is unstaffed (5:00 PM - 8:00 AM) in order to facilitate Security rounds.
If you have general questions about our expanded room reservation service, please contact Dan Wilson, Associate Director for Collections & Library Services . Dan can be reached at danwilson@virginia.edu.
Beginning on Friday, January 21, 2021, certain sections of the Library’s physical space will be
dedicated to administering saliva tests for the presence of COVID-19. These sections include the HIT workstations area next to the 24-Hour entrance, the adjacent quiet study areas, and the Cabell room (please see diagram). The HIT workstations will be relocated to the Library’s main lobby near the front entrance.
The Library will continue to welcome patrons who wish to visit (while enforcing capacity limits), and many new sections of the Library have been temporarily designated as 24-hour spaces, including:
In order to accommodate the needs of the General Medical Education program, the MILL, Carter classroom, Tolleson classroom, and room 1212 have been assigned to it until vaccinations are distributed at a capacity that allows for safer gathering in clinical areas.
For the past 10 months, UVA Health has moved at the speed of need, and these most recent changes in the Library are no exception. We apologize for any convenience that this may cause but know that our patrons understand the importance of making testing easily available. UVA Health is united in our pride in our work and in each other, and the Library is happy to continue to do its part.
